Overview

East Hartford Public Schools Department of Student Transportation Services will provide student transportation, under provisions of state law and regulation, under contract, for all students who qualify for such service. The walking distance for the student is not in excess of the guidelines established from time-to-time by the Board and which shall not exceed the following maximum distances or whatever other maximum distance limits are set by the State Board of Education. In general, students will be eligible for school transportation if one or more of the following criteria is present and remains uncorrected by the Board:

  1. Elementary School students (K-5) walk one (1) mile or less
  2. Middle School students walk one and one-half (1 1/2) miles or less
  3. High School students walk two (2) miles or less
  4. Special Education and medically fragile students who qualify for bus transportation as determined by the Planning and Placement Team (PPT).

If you have moved and have not changed your address with the Central Registration Department, the bus will not be able to transport your child to school.

Your child must be at the bus stop ten (10) minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.
