Biography

Jim Rovezzi was appointed Director of Facilities in 2024 and previously held the position of Assistant Director of Facilities at East Hartford Public Schools since 2020.

As the Director of Facilities, Mr. Rovezzi oversees a staff of over 100 employees across 16 schools encompassing over 1.3 million sq. ft. He develops, manages, administers, supervises, and directs the programs and activities of the Facilities Department in conjunction with his team of skilled managers overseeing the functional areas of; general administration, building maintenance, custodial operations, school security management, student transportation/crossing guard services, grounds maintenance, snow removal, waste management and recycling, operating and capital budgeting and planning, facility reservation system management and building renovation project development.

Mr. Rovezzi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him with over 4 decades of service in various facility management positions in healthcare, higher education, and most recently K-12 which highlight his career. Prior to joining EHPS, Jim was the Director of Facilities at East Catholic High School, where he developed and managed a major renovation project and new STEM addition projects in 2016. He was a Facility Manager at Westfield State University managing a staff of up to 100 employees for 15 years where he helped develop and oversee new building construction projects including a new Athletic Complex and Field House and 2 new Residence Halls, along with four renovate as new projects across the campus. Prior to working at WSU, Jim served as Director of Environmental Services with a staff of 75 employees alongside the Engineering Department at Manchester Memorial Hospital where he served for 10 years and participated in the design team to develop and construct a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Center along with significant improvements and operational efficiencies.

Prior to serving at MMH, Jim worked for a large nationwide fortune 500 facility management corporation servicing the healthcare field. Hired right after college, Jim got initiated into facility management receiving training and credentials that catapulted him towards developing a passion for service excellence, which he maintains to this very day.

Jim currently lives in South Windsor with his wife and son. They also have two older daughters and two lovely grandchildren. He and his son are avid salt-water fishermen and boaters where they often share their passion for the sea with friends. Jim played varsity basketball in high school and college, and enjoys helping to coach and develop players along with his son’s love for the sport.
