More than 60 volunteers from local businesses, organizations and the greater East Hartford community helped East Hartford Public Schools celebrate the annual Jumpstart Read for the Record event on October 26.

In partnership with the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, these volunteers dispersed to all eight of our elementary schools and read to kindergarten, first and second grade classrooms. They read the book “With Lots of Love” by Jenny Torres Sanchez and helped our students complete a corresponding activity.

This year was the 18th anniversary of Jumpstart's Read for the Record, which is a campaign to mobilize volunteers to read to students in the classroom.
